Kesar is saffron in Hindi. Ever wondered Kesar Peda is also a very quick and easy sweet to prepare? It does not need any cooking expertise or skills and still comes out very tasty and attractive option for any festival, get-together or at-home-parties. The traditional recipe is a long and time consuming and requires khowa. Here I will show you how to prepare it in a jiffy. If your mouth is already watering, scroll down for the recipe!!
Ingredients:
Milk powder - 2 cup
Sweetened condensed milk - 400 gram
Saffron (Kesar) - 10 strands
Milk - 2 tbsp
Ghee (Clarified Butter) - 2 tbsp
Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
Almond - 4 pieces (For garnishing. Any other dry fruit would also do)
Note: Add saffron strands to 2 tbsp of milk and keep it aside.
- In a pan add ghee and condensed milk together, turn on the stove to very low heat and mix it very well.
- When milk and ghee combine properly add milk powder little by little and mix slowly. Make sure there is no lumps.
- Add Cardamom and saffron, stir it continuously to avoid contents sticking to the pan.
- After sometime the mixture forms a dough. Turn off the heat and place it in a plate for some time to cool down to a temperature which is comfortable touch. Do not cool too much else it will become brittle and would be difficult to make small Pedas.
- Grease the hand with ghee and start making small Pedas. You can choose to give it any shape you like and garnish it with some dry fruit. I have made small flat round shape with cut Almonds stuck on top give it a nice yummy look :-)
Lukng yummy
